My Job Title is a Testing Engineer. At Accenture we work for Clients, but don't necessarily have to interact with Clients on a day to day basis - my role doesn't involve this. I write coding scripts and test them to make sure they're working just how they should be, and if they aren't I work on fixing them to make sure they are then working correctly.
Everything I carryout within the workplace is knowledge I have gained and learnt whilst being here at Accenture. I had a little knowledge of IT at a whole before working here, but I have progressed and learnt so much within the 3 and a half years of being here. I have gained qualifications, carried out Internal Training Courses and this Apprenticeship has allowed my Personal Skills to improve too.
Over the 3 years so far at Accenture it has been everything I thought it would be and more. I have worked with so many professional people that have offered help throughout my Apprentice journey. I have settled into my team and work with friendly people. I can always ask them for help.
Whenever ever I complete a piece of work to expectation or above, credit is always given. I feel really appreciated within my team and internal recognition is always given. I have recently been given a piece of work to complete on my own - my manager is able to trust that I will deliver a good job with this.
Overall the Apprenticeship programme is organised and structured so well. When you first start you are given a few weeks training to get the basic idea of things and explore what sort of role you would like to be placed in. When you get put into a role, training and support is always available if and when you feel like you need it. Your manager is always close too if you needed support or a chat. College and University takes place once a week, where you go and attend classes out of the office.
We don't have a dedicated "training provider" but when at University or College we have teachers/lectures there throughout then week for help when we aren't attending education and when we are attending they are also present then too. If you did have a problem you could always go and seek advice and help so your never in a position where you're sitting worrying about an outcome.
Whenever we need support from our employer we can always seek it easily, there is always someone not far away who will know the answer to your problem. There are so many people in the office, if you have a query 99% of the time someone else in the office has overcome the issue and know the answer. Management are also always there if need be - I know I can talk to my manager whenever I may need support and advice.
I still live at home and have done throughout my whole Apprenticeship. So my living costs are very minimal, I pay for my own car which I wouldn't of been able to do without my salary. My salary also enables me to buy the things I want and go out and socialist whenever I want too.
Yes, Accenture encourage individuals to volunteer at events and schools etc. to tell other people about the Apprenticeship. Company events occur all the time and its fun to get involved with them - especially when you could be helping and influencing someone else to get into the Apprenticeship. I've also traveled a bit with work too and went to events around the country telling my story to hopefully influence others.
Yes
Accenture offer a Higher Apprenticeship where you will be completing a Degree - and its all for free! As well as the education side, you're also getting paid for a full time job (no working weekends!) and are able to gain so much knowledge and experience along the way. From working with professional people in the office to gaining personal experience and training qualifications.
The Application process has changed a lot since I applied for the Apprenticeship. But I think the key things are is to be yourself, embrace anything that's asked of you and be confident. There are a string of applications, interview and an assessment day so you are able to show off your true self in a fun matter and not just sit in front of someone and answer questions.
