  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work for the met police on their CRIS application. I help to maintain the system as well as deal with technical problems from any users. I work in a team of 10 people who are situated in London and Newcastle. My daily tasks involve performing daily checks and general maintenance of incidents.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have been part of a number of training courses including angular and the EFS course. I have learnt a number of new technical skills since joining when completing the boot camp stage of the apprenticeship. I have also learned a lot about the business side of the company and learned skills there that i can take into life.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • At first when joining the programme it was good to meet young people like myself where this was there first experience of a 'proper' job. The training was good and the enjoyable for the 8 weeks at the start. I did lose some enjoyment when i was unassigned from a project as general training got very repetitive and boring after a while. When i finally got assigned to a project after two months of waiting, i had to wait for vetting processes to be completed but i had the enjoyment of meeting my team and observing their day-to-day activities. When i started to do work on the systems, it was very enjoyable as i feel as i am achieving something in the role. There are always events on around the company to attend so this makes the workplace a lot more enjoyable.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • There are a lot of recognition opportunities in the company for names to be put forward and these are recognised throughout the company. As well as the entire company their are also opportunities to be recognised on the separate accounts. For myself i feel as if i am valued in my team as they are very supportive but on a company scale i feel as if i am not valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of the programme to start with is very good with the arranged 8 week boot camp which is used to teach people the begineer skills that are needed. The part after boot camp was poorly structed as I had to wait for almost two months to get put onto a role and start learning 'on the job'. These two months could have been a lot more beneficial than what they were as coming from school and doing generic training was not the best use of my time. There were support mentors put into place but for me personally, i don't really use my mentor.

He is available to speak to when need be and fits you around his meetings if need be. He is very helpful and willing to help where he can to support me and develop me.
