  • Trainee Openreach engineer, I will be visiting customer premises to install or repair lines as well as work at the telegraph poles and exchanges

  • Yes all the skills regarding external work are new skills

  • Very much, I have met some amazing people, it's a good mix of practical and theory

  • The trainers make me feel valued and included in all classes

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It can be tricky to keep track of where you are meant to be for each lesson and who with, plus with a starting group of 80 plus, there wasn't much chance for asking questions or 121 help in the first week.

  • The trainers themselves are brilliant

  • The advice and help is available if you look for it

  • BT have lots of social groups you can get involved in through the social websites and also the volunteering schemes

  • Yes

  • It's a brilliant place to work for good money


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Consider how climbing a pole would affect you as you don't get to try that until week 4, and that can be the scariest part of the course
