  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am undertaking a Level 3 HR support apprenticeship. Over the course of 2 years I will work in 4 different sections of HR case management including attendance, performance, discipline and grievance. My day to day duties are varied with the opportunity to work on many different projects, with the foundation of my work being case management. I coach line managers in supporting their staff and following HR processes to do with the documentation of this support. I am also studying for a CIPD Level 3 foundation certificate in HR practice, which is an extremely valuable qualification. BT have offered nothing but support and the opportunities to develop are second to none. I have never felt so valued in a company.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course overall could be better organised, but I think this is to do with the size of the organisation. While there have been some hiccups this has not detracted from my overall experience of the apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • BT provide living wage for all apprentices regardless of age and increase your salary from 14,995 to 17,995 after your first year subject to successful performance in your role and qualification. This is fantastic when compared to the majority of apprenticeships on offer and part of the reason I was able to apply at a later stage in my career. It makes it accessible to all.
