  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I have just rolled off my last project which was as a technical analyst. My daily tasks involved updating the project dashboard and sending out updates to leadership and the rest of the team for project updates. I was also responsible for the holiday tracker and various ad-hoc activities such as assisting with the test support team.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • From the past year and a half of my apprenticeship I have learned many skills from my projects as well as from the university modules we have completed so far. The skills I have learned so far include Java programming, SQL, as well as modules such as business strategy and understanding systems development. I also developed my communication and presentation skills from delivering brown bags and hosting meetings.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I think the programme is a great alternative to university and I love the aspect of working and studying at the same time. Generally the work-life balance is pretty good but it can get overwhelming in periods where the project is busy and university deadlines are approaching. Projects are generally understanding when it comes to university commitments.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • This really depends on the project you are on. I had a lot of recognition in my first project and appreciation from managers. I received recognition points for my work during the project which was very rewarding as I could exchange them for monetary gifts. I feel like I played an important role for both my projects which made me feel valued as I was a part of the team and not just seen as an apprentice.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The initial java bootcamp is a good segway into the world of tech. It gives you a good foundation in programming to prepare you for your 3 years so you can come in at a very junior level. The way the university modules are structured is generally pretty good in the 10 week blocks but can get a bit much when you have multiple modules running at the same time. However there is a good support system and network to reach out to.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • QA provides a lot of support as the lecturers are always available as well as having a lot of course content on the canvas website. QA are always willing to help out and provide additional support and guidance whenever it is needed. The support is easily accessible by the skills coach or lecturers as well as being able to ask peers on the weekly content forums. I have enjoyed it very much.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Living in London is pretty expensive. Having moved down from the north it is a big change. Thankfully my parents support me with my rent so my salary package meets my costs typically. Travelling to central London and buying lunch can get expensive however. Social outings are also more expensive but the salary is usually enough to get you through the month.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Accenture are always having events and socials outside of working hours. You can find groups which you are interested in and then meet up with people of similar interests for socials. The company has quarterly events for your group/area where you can meet other people working similar roles. The events are held in nice locations as well and have an enjoyable agenda for the evenings.

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Accenture is a great place to work at, especially with the apprenticeship scheme. There is a great variety of roles as well as a good network of people to learn from. You can find people with expertise in almost every technology field and learn what you want. Also, you are in charge of your journey at Accenture by getting the experience and skillset you want.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • The application process consisted of 2 online tests, three 1 to 1 interviews and then an assessment center which consisted of being observed in a group task. I would say the application process wasn't too difficult and Accenture are more looking for a genuine interest in technology as opposed to being really smart or skilled in tech already. The onboarding process is very efficient. I think I would have liked to have been told to just be confident and be myself.
