I am a software engineering apprentice - I currently undertake business analytical activities in my current role. On Mondays I attend university - 9 to 6, on this day we have 2 lectures and 2 tutorials/lab sessions (where we practice what we have learnt in the lecture). The lectures and lab sessions are two hours long.
I have learnt how to program in Java and program in various IDE's. I have also learnt how to use ERP software like SAP. At university, I have been able to advance my web development skills by learning about the latest web technologies used to build a website I.e HTML5 and CSS3.
I enjoy my programme to a great extent.
I feel valued by Accenture
I think the programme is well structured. We had a 2 day induction followed by a 4 week training boot camp, after this boot camp we had a 2 week block release, this was where we visited our training provider (UEL) and had lessons everyday for 2 weeks. After the block release, we went straight into our roles whilst attending University one day a week.
I would say the training provider is supportive to a certain extent. We have an Academic advisor that we see at the end of each term and he usually will give us guidance with problems that we are currently facing and he would suggest support which is available in the university.
I receive a lot of support from the HR team, Career Counsellor, Apprentice Ambassador. The attitude towards supporting me is very positive.
My salary is enough to meet my living, travel, daily and social costs. It was one of the only apprenticeships that I viewed that was offering a competitive salary for their apprentices. Advice: When looking at apprenticeships make sure they meet your day to day costs.
Yes, you are able to volunteer your time for charity work for up to 3 days. There are various societies/networks which give you the opportunity to meet other Accenture workers. For example, I am currently in the African Caribbean Network where we frequently have events at the London Office and across London.
Yes
I would definitely recommend Accenture to a friend. There are so many opportunities and benefits working at Accenture. The work environment is a positive place to be. I have learnt a lot in this degree apprenticeship as this is my first job.
Be passionate about Technology and the Company itself. The application process was fairly quick - I got through the whole application process within 3 weeks which involved an Interview and Assessment Centre which compromised of an interview and an assessed group task.
