  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Flying Start Degree programme - FS2 More London. My role is as a junior auditor. Day to day I use software such as Aura and excel to test balances on companies accounts, to ensure that the accounts match supporting information, and management can sufficiently explain each number. This provides a reasonable level of comfort for users of the company accounts such as shareholders. This testing can include observation of company controls, testing of payroll figures back to payslips and contracts or recalculations and checking accounting estimates are reasonable.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the challenge, working with a good team and getting to know a client's business. Particularly, I enjoy engaging with the clients. However, I do not enjoy the work/life balance and inflexibility at times. I do think this will be improved in time by a Fulcrum style approach.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • By my audit teams and people manager, I definitely feel valued and that I am making a contribution to the team and quality of my audits. As a whole at PwC More London, it is such a large office and we have such little involvement in 3 months with our business units or social groups that really you feel like a number in many. This becomes very clear when we try to express any preference for work to resourcing. However, a recent trip to Fulcrum suggested that this will not be the case when we move and I look forward to being a part of that, where the whole community is valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Extremely well organised. It is great having the communication from university and PwC. I enjoy the variety and structure of our modules. The only way this could be improved is a more advanced warning about where our accommodation will be, but this is difficult to provide.
