  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Alot. at the moment i am based in a model shop where i am learning to use tools and take apart different parts or various cars, last week i was learning how to fibreglass and the week before that i learnt to sew a leather seat.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • as aformentioned i can now take a car apart, put most of it back together, i can lay fibreglass and sew leather seating. I have also learnt how to use a GOM scanner along with the software that accompanies it.

  • very much, i love practical work and i receive a lot of support.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by JLR?
  • i feel very valued as an employee at jaguar land rover, they give me all the help i need, both with work and any personal matters i may have.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • my programme is quite structured, all of my placements are planned out 1 year in advance, but there may be some changes or adaptations which is understandable.

  • I have a manager that overlooks all of my work and will regularly check on my progress as an apprentice. in every placement i have a team leader that will delegate work or training to me.

  • AMAZING!

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • every year every JLR employee is offered an employee learning scheme, this is £200 provided by the company to go out and learn a new skill, whether a musical instrument or driving lessons.

  • Yes

  • its great, i have money, i'm not starting my life off with debt and i receive a degree.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to JLR?
  • Be prepared to work hard, but its worth it.
