1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

Corporate finance executive. Primary responsability is undertaking due diliegence on companies to produce advice to the client regarding the current financial position of the copmany in question. Daily tasks include speaking to the target company to understand areas in question in the due diligence report and dig deeper into financial information to provide a clearer picture as to overall advise the client.

2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

The ACA external training has provided me with new accounting knowledge that i use day to day. The internal training has provided me with knowledge to help me day to day aswell as to help me with my career progression.

3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?

I really enjoy my day to day work aswell as the team I am in. The team and the overall culture is inviting and friendly, undertaking numerous event each month to help the team build lasting working relationships.

4. How valued do you feel by BDO?

I feel very valued at BDO. I receive feedback from managers, directors and from partner level regarding most of the work I undertake. This really helps me feel recognised as an individual and for the work I do.

5. How well organised/structured is your programme?

The training and programme is well structured, with support available internally and externally if required. The company is very understanding of exam requirements and will provide you with addequate time to suceed in your exams.

6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?

The tutors provide support in and outside of working hours and show great willingness to support each trainee. They tailor their teaching to suit your needs if they feel you are struggling in a certain area.

6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

The whole team provides support in exam and work related needs. My team is available and willing to help me if i am struggling with any areas of the exams as well as give me work that aims at providing me with working and practical knowledge of how the technical side of the exams is used in practise.

7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?

My salary is competative compared with the other accountancy firms and is enough to provide me with a good standard of living. The salary also increases at stages during the training contract which provides motivation to complete the exams.

8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?

BDO has numerous events with internal collegues as well as events with other companies (both in and outside of the accountancy world). This is great for building work contacts and also to build friendships with others in a similar position at other companies.

Yes

9b. Why?

Overall I am very happy with everything in my day to day life. I look forward to coming to work and feel supported by the firm both in and outside of work These are both things which I tihnk are very important.

10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BDO?

Be yourself and try not to be nervous, the person sitting on the otherside of the table is probably just as nervous as you!
