  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a Unix Admin, my daily tasks are maintaining and looking after servers for multiple clients. I have regular interactions with other members of the unix team, and often the SDM and members of other team such as networks and DBAs. I also have 2 separate client meetings twice a week externally. I am responsible for making sure that we provide the service offered to the clients with minimal downtime.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • I feel valued, my manager is always there to tell me how I can improve and to tell me when I have done a good job, as are the other people in my team. I am pushed to the limit of my curren skillset which only makes me improve further.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is organised fairly well. Induction was good, the training can sometimes be a bit hit and miss over the years. I have good support from people within my office over the programme. My mentor from QA is very supportive and helpful.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My current tutor and skills coach are both very useful and supportive. They are both very easily contactable and help me when I need it, and never have a problem helping. I could not fault either.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my manager. I rarely speak to HR but they have been supportive in the past when I needed them. I find it easy to get support from the people around me and help me with my problems whenever needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • For me the wage is OK, it could be better with some of the other apprenticeships I have seen around. Also seeing newer apprentices come in on the same salary as us without any training or experience felt very unfair, instead of starting on the same salary as us, or not incrementing us up further.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of work. There is always something going on. There are many company events and activities. There are many charitable opportunities going on and in work workshops and classes.

    9/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a great company to work for, with great people and also reflects well upon yourself being hired by Accenture. The people are very good, the work is challenging and you have a wide support network.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Just be yourself and be honest to yourself, be prepared for good times and prepared for difficult times as it wont be easy. If you are up for the challenge then you have to apply, as there are limitless opportunities for someone willing to work hard enough.
