The apprenticheship provides us with the opportunity to experience each aspect of the London Insurance Market. The programme consists of an initial 1 month induction, 4 months at a Lloyd's Broker and 13 months at a Managing Agents'.
We have benefitted from a number of soft skills workshops; such as communication and personal effectiveness. We are currently studying for an internationally recognised qualification - the CII Certificate in Insurance. Llloyd's have shown a fantastic commitment to our personal development by agreeing to fund further study should we be in a position to do so within the apprenticeship time frame.
I chose to undertake this apprenticeship rather than attend University and I have no regrets. Lloyd's is a unique organisation and has a positive culture. I have enjoyed my time on the scheme.
Lloyd's have been incredibly supportive in all of our endeavours outside of the workplace. An example of this is how the company supported us during our participation in the Brathay Apprentice Challenge.
The structure of the apprenticeship is what makes it so appealling. The fact that we have the opportunity to gain experience in different areas of the market affords us great exposure and helps our learning.
Our tutor comes to visit us once a month at our placements to discuss progress. We also have regular interaction with our Line Managers at Lloyd's.
Our salary is sufficient however it does not meet my social costs.
Yes, we receive a great range of flexible benefits and are encouraged to get involved in activities outside of work.
Yes
There are few companies/industries that would present a worthy alternative to a University degree.
