  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Meetings with clients, gathering evidence, and coordinating with your team make up an assurance associate's daily duties. Additionally, it entails visiting client sites and sending tonnes of emails throughout the day. In addition, there are team dinners and lunches, and at the end of the day, I study for tests.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Along with developing many more new skills, I have picked up new skills. As it is a requirement of the profession, communication and socialising have, first and foremost, greatly improved. Additionally, this work has greatly enhanced skills such as formal email writing and using Word and Excel programmes in performing tasks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my programme. I have always known that going to college is not for me, and I've been interested in apprenticeships and had my sights set on this particular business and position for years. I was ecstatic to learn I had gotten the part when the time came.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is extremely well designed and organised. This is because the company's website has a schedule for the upcoming year that specifies whose customer we are working with, when our exam is, and when we have training days. I had no idea it would be so well organised.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is quite helpful. This is so that we can have things like companions, counsellors, and coaches for apprenticeships. These are real individuals who are active in our daily lives and serve as our managers, coaches, and points of contact for anything that may concern us. The support is incredible and ongoing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • As noted earlier, when we first join the organisation, we are given an apprenticeship coach. We meet frequently to discuss exams and exam preparation, and our apprenticeship coach will take things further if necessary. This is our primary point of contact for any questions or problems relating to the apprenticeship.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have firsthand knowledge of this. The first exam we took was assurance, and I am in audit. This was quite helpful because I was already familiar with the methods we would be utilising when seniors described how to document and gather evidence and how to collect evidence because I had done this in my exam.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My department, the corporation, and others routinely hold social functions. This involves meeting up with other apprentices, as well as mentors, managers and partners, at a restaurant or bar. Additionally, we hold peer group sessions where all of the new hires can interact with other third- and fourth-year apprentices to discuss and interact.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Lloyd's of London to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because the business is really inclusive and warm. As a Muslim, I was surprised to see a prayer room, but there was also a wudu space and other amenities, like Muslim communities. Additionally, the work-life balance is fantastic, and they truly grasp what flexible working means since working from home is permitted and convenient for us.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyd's of London?
  • Being assured and confidence is essential for interviews. If you are confident, you can easily recover even when you make a mistake. What sets you apart is your confidence. Additionally, thinking creatively and being open-minded. When it comes to the final interviews, make a statement and take steps to prepare that other applicants would not.
