  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Day to day basis can be different depending on what projects I'm working on. Usually a mix of data manipulation, analysis and visualisation. I work on real clients solving real problems, occasionally meeting with clients to support their problems.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am studying for the ATT and have picked up many technology skills, such as coding, data manipulation, data visualisation. This has been really useful, especially as the market is continuously moving towards technology - these skills will be extremely useful. Also building on simple skills, such as writing emails and commercial thinking has supported my development.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme is really enjoyable, we have a good mix between work and study. The PwC culture is great, supporting diversity and other important workplace initiatives. I expected PwC to be quite corporate (and not very exciting) but I've been pleasantly surprised!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • From my feedback, recognition awards and generally speaking to my colleagues I feel really valued. I feel like my work makes an actual impact for our clients and I'm not just doing 'admin' work. This makes work a lot more enjoyable as I'm adding real value.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised, it's very clear who we can call on for help and support. However while I am in TAX I also study for the ATT, but my actual day-to-day work is more related to Technology, so my tax qualification is useful, but not applicable to my actual work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Our training provider has been helpful, if we have questions then we can email/ring and they are easily accessible. I haven't really taken advantage of this, but the tutors attitudes at college are great and they are very supportive. (Although very quick at teaching, cramming a lot of knowledge in a short space of time)

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • PwC provide us with 1 day per month to study/work on our diploma. PwC also have a well structured system in place for support. Everyone is allocated a people manager for general queries and support. This is really useful as it's important to take guidance from managers around you.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is great for people living at home, as the only expenses are food and travel. London is very expensive so attempting to move out into London would have been a struggle, but that's the case with all jobs in London. The salary itself is great for our age/experience.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many sporting and social opportunities. There are a number of sports and groups that one can join. PwC also offer volunteering, running and a variety of different activities that can be joined. These aren't offered straight away, but with a few searches can be easily accessible.

  • 9. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • PwC has been a great place to work. With an emphasis on personal development, PwC has provided me with a number of opportunities I would have otherwise never had. PwC is a great place to develop and improve.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Just be yourself, if you have a positive attitude with an eager to learn and develop, it will show during the interviews. I think that these are the two most important qualities for an apprentice - as we are just leaving school, the eager to learn and positive attitude is (in my view) most important.
