  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a trainee consultant 2 a PwC and have been involved in a large Transformation Programme with a key client. This has involved carrying out detailed data analysis on a day to day basis to develop an accurate baseline as well as measuring savings against this. I have also been involved in leading client meetings and workshops and managing my own client relationships by acting as the single point of contact for 6 project teams within the client we were working with. On a daily basis, I spoke to my own team including a few senior associates, a manager, senior manager and director. Externally, I spoke to many client members to help them through a design process we were leading. My typical responsibilities included managing the data analysis for our area of the client; Undertaking project management eg risks, project updates, chairing weekly progress meetings, sending out weekly progress dashboards to senior client stakeholders etc; and co-leading the design of 6 project teams This meant that I had to weekly meet the project leaders and guide them through the design process we had created, provide challenge on their designs and evaluate and score the designs they created eventually.

I love this the most about the team and programme Work- There is such a variety in the work that we do that you do not get the chance to get bored and you are constantly doing and learning something different which I enjoy. • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • There are a lot of opportunities for recognition and weekly recognition awards within our programme as well. My manager has actually appreciated me on multiple occasions and I've won 4/5 internal recognition prizes as well and also been nominated for the external MCA youngest consultant of the year award by the partner on our project. The team always appreciate every little thing I do and have always promoted me to my People Manager and other people within the firm making me feel valued. I also get a lot of responsibilities and autonomy to do my work which shows they trust me and value my input as a member of the team.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Look through our website and particularly at the PwC Professional to find out what key skills interviewers are looking for. Be prepared to provide examples demonstrating these skills. Most importantly be yourself, they are not looking for robots but rather people that are 'emotionally intelligent' so its your personality that should shine through. For the assessment days, there are lots of practice tests online so have a go at some of these so you are familiar with them. Make sure you know a bit about the firm and what we do before you apply and come for the interview-this always helps if you know what you are talking about!
