  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently working in the Domain Management centre which involves day to day management and maintenance of our customer's domains. We regularly interact with end users to make any changes to their DNS records.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained a great depth of insight into DNS and how it operates. I have also completed internal Accredited Learning Pathways in Networks and Broadband. This greatly improves my quality of work as it gave me a greater understanding of what I am working with. I have also developed my speech skills as part of my role regularly involves me liaising with customers and internal people verbally.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I feel my team atmosphere is great and we all get along well while pushing ourselves to do better. All of my teammates take me seriously and do not think I can't do certain tasks because I am an apprentices. I am enjoying my time with BT a lot more than I had expected.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT?
  • I feel valued by BT as I regularly receive feedback from my manager and colleagues. Furthermore, when interacting with internal customers I also regularly receive formal recognition in the form of an eCard.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From start to finish the programme is very structured and organised as BT have clearly been in this industry for a very long time. There are always set dates for milestones and any apprenticeship related events.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • My coach is very helpful and is constantly in contact with myself to ask how I am getting on and is always willing to go above and beyond to support me in everything I do.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is received in abundance from team mates and also managers ranging from my direct manager to more senior managers. Guidance and advice is always available if required and I feel there is always somebody available to talk to.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I feel the salary is very generous and it allows me to live a comfortable modest life for the situation I am in right now with the scope of a pay rise allowing for more extravagance. Living/Travel/Daily costs are not a problem.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I am regularly involved with extra curricular activities and the most significant tasks I have been voluntarily involved with is setting up charity food banks and also helping support local schools.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BT is a great place to work with great opportunities to develop yourself and have a long successful career. The overall experience is great thanks to the salary, the perks, the comfort of the job and also the levels of technicality that are available. There are roles to suit everybody.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • Be yourself and ensure you communicate clearly. Interviews require you to be detailed and in depth so ensure any responses are expanded on rather than left with one word answers.
