  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Whilst completing my apprenticeship I working in Openreach customer service centre, dealing with customer queries around fibre order via phone calls and emails, I was soon promoted to dealing with director level complaints ensuring we provided great customer service and resolved the issues quickly and efficiently.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, the main skills I have developed is life skills, for example building confidence and social skills. Also basic skills such as how to write an email have been improved.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • After doing the job role for 2 years I was bored and ready to move on however the overall experience has been good and with the opportunities that Openreach provide I have now been promoted to another department so I can continue to work and develop my skills.

  • I have had great support and management throughout my apprenticeship who give great opportunities and provide regular praise so you feel valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprentice team cant be faulted, my coach and manager was fantastic and constantly pushed allowing me to finish my apprenticeship early, allowing me to achieve my promotion.

  • BT allow you to develop your own career, leaving me to figure things out however the support was there if needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • the wage is higher than average and BT reward loyalty and hard work so pay was increased every year.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes, there are company teams and regular team events. They alos gave use opportunities such as BT tower visit if you wanted to arrange it.

  • Yes

  • Great company to work for and great opportunities, some friends have already applied and signed up after seeing the advantages.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT?
  • It's hard work but if you're willing to work you'll get the benefits.
