  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Trainee Assistant MEP Manager My daily Tasks: - Ensuring that operatives are adhering to health and safety while performing works on site. - Using Yellowjacket regularly to report good and bad health and safety practice. - weekly progress reports - attending and holding Daily activity Briefings (DABs) - ensure markups are up to date - ensure services are fitted as per design specification - ensure coordination between trades - attend last planner meetings - inspection of trade to trade handovers.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • - I am currently studying an HNC in construction and the built environment (Building services engineering. - Mace Business school provides so many opportunities to further my knowledge of not only Building services but construction and quantity surveying. - the extra training that I have received out side of college has been excellent, its allowed me to better my planning and organization and taught to meticulous in all aspects of my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • - I thoroughly enjoy the program, the Mace team has been very supportive and welcoming from the beginning and really helped to get settled in my new role. - This program has exceed my every expectation.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Mace?
  • - I feel very valued by the Mace team and my line manager where I am correctly working. I have been given positive fee back by members of the team and my line manager has been brilliant with involving me in the project and giving me roles and responsibilities to help further my knowledge and better my understanding of the project.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The mace induction at the beginning of my apprenticeship was fantastic and incredibly inspiring and welcoming. Mace provided me with a Trainee development plan which I have the next three years to complete. It contains all the basic building services knowledge needed to become an assistant MEP manager and is a very well structured. I attend college once a week and work the other four days. once to twice a month extra training is provided at other site for us to understand aspects of construction which we may not been exposed to in other area of the program.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I attend City of Westminster college one day a week and the support from the college has been generally very good. The teachers have been very supportive with work and have also been happy to help with any knowledge related issues.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Mace provided incredibly amount of support and guidance within there program. The mace team are always happy to help me with work or problems that I may have. At the beginning of the apprenticeship I was buddied up with another apprentice who had been through the entire program, they to supported me and helped my with any problems I had.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • All my travel costs to site are paid for, including my college fees and I also have access to free health and dental care.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I have many opportunities to volunteer outside of work and raise money for different charities which I have thoroughly enjoyed. There are always event and company activities to get involved, such as the 5 aside football tournament I took part in a couple of months back.

  • Yes

  • Mace are a fantastic company to work for in every aspect, they provide brilliant support for all employees and provided countless opportunities for you to further your career.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Be professional but show your personality and why your different to other people applying for the same job. Been vigorous and detailed when filling out your application and include all previous experience's, interests and skills to give the interviewer an idea of what sort of a person you are.
