  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • With our laptops, which were given by PwC, we had a variety of jobs to complete. Some jobs included visiting the client's site, while others involved helping colleagues with small tasks such as making spreadsheet. Sometimes we got the opportunity to observe client calls and meetings. These were held in meeting rooms and were conducted in a very professional manner.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have improved my communication skills in a cooperate environment, for example sending emails to managers and clients, and talking to clients. For me it was a very new and different experience and required a different level of professionalism, something up till now i have never experienced, and has been a great addition to my skillset.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • It was a fantastic experience, and has given me a valuable insight to what work is like in a large company like PwC. It also gave an insight into the cooperate world, something which for us who are still in school rarely see. I also really enjoyed the team I worked with, who were really friendly and were always willing to go out of their way to help.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • I feel very valued by PwC. Throughout the week, they treated us like employees, by giving us laptops and our own personal card to enter into different parts of the building. We were given tasks which my team were already working on, which showed the level of trust and value PwC gave us.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was very well organised. There was a proper and thorough induction at the start of the week, were we given our laptops and instructions on how to use them. Throughout the weeks the mentors had a proper structure of the week, and it was very organised. On the last day there was final project that we completed.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • A lot of support was provided by our mentors. They gave us detailed instructions and always found us tasks which we could do. They helped us a lot at times when we didn't understand how to do some tasks. PwC at the induction also gave us clear instructions as to how do tasks on laptops.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot of support was received from my colleagues, who also guided us when we didn't know how to do some tasks, or when our mentors were not available. There was also an online PwC intranet, which was very helpful in giving us further instructions on how to set up a bit more complex tasks.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It was very good. Pay was about 300 pounds for the whole week. And PwC also reimbursed travels costs, which for the induction day and the final day was quite high, as that was based in london. Total reimbursed form PwC was approx 100 pounds. Food was also provided for the induction and the final day.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • During lunchtimes the team would go out to eat in a restaurant, and we would also go with them. However there is nothing after work for people doing work experience, and that could be improved, for example a they could have a after work football meet up, or meet up to play another sport.

  • 9. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because PwC value everyone equally and treat each employee no matter what level they are at, with respect. The tasks during the job are also challenging and very interesting. The teams work together very nicely and are very close to each other, and there is a lot of interaction between them.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • You would need to well prepared for the online test they give you. Do make sure you complete the practise test that they give before you do the actual test. And make sure you are prepared to answer a lot of varied questions in the telephone interview, as although they only ask a few of them, they can be different.
