  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • We were allocated into teams and I was fortunate enough to be a part of the Goldman Sachs Audit team. As I had a buddy it was quite a comfortable environment and I was given tasks that were real and part of the teams work as opposed to case studies. Not once did I have to photocopy or scan documents!

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • This helped me exercise my communication skills. I was put into an unknown environment and had to adapt, however this was not difficult as everyone was very friendly. I also developed my IT skills as the work was very much based on a laptop that they provided.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme very much as I was able to learn new things at a firm that is very respectable. The staff are very welcoming and there was not a point at which I felt isolated as I was a work experience student.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by PwC?
  • I felt valued as even though I was only a work experience student I wasn't isolated or made to feel below them. I was taken to meetings and I was given work to do as opposed to the typical work experience student who would usually be scanning and photocopying.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was a very well structured programme with an induction and a day at the end where all the regions were at one office. Throughout the week there was a webinar on skills to prepare us for applying for jobs in the future and our buddies had our days planned out.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As I was not there long enough I cannot comment on this, however, I was able to attend meetings with managers where they helped junior staff and advised them on how to do things which showed that there is help and support available.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • We were paid the living wage and lunch was paid for by the buddies. On the last day I had to travel from London to Reading which was reimbursed.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I was unable to experience these as I was only there for a week but I was made aware of social activities that are available.

  • 9. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It was a nice environment to be working in with great people. The pay for work experience is great as many places do not give you anything. It was overall a nice environment to be in.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • The application process was quite long as there were many steps. I would advise applicants to practice verbal and numerical reasoning tests and read around the company for the interview.
