  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I am creating and developing test routines in LabVIEW and TestStand. I am also developing the electronics in a test system which we are creating. This is soon to be moved into production to test the products we make.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I started my apprenticeship knowing very little about electronics and absolutely nothing about software. I am now competent at electronics and am continuously working on this skill to become a better test engineer. I am also very skilled in software development now which I could only have dreamed of being.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My program is very well structured, we have movement plans throughout our apprenticeship that show us the areas we will visit throughout the 4 years. We also have objectives set for every new placement we start, and reviews at the end of every placement. We have multiple mentors that guide apprentices through their programme and even after you are out of your apprenticeship.

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a fantastic company that looks after it's employees. There are so many people in this company who have been here for 30, 40, 50 years. This proves how good this company is as people know they can't get better elsewhere.
