  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role has varied massively from project to project. At times it has been tedious and I have felt like I am there to purely do the work others don't want to do, such as simple but time consuming excel, manual labour, and information recording. Sometimes the work has been much more stimulating, for example coding, building computers, or managing deployment projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt new skills, particularly in Windows ten tech support, SQL coding, and excel. I have been on one project where I did not learn a large amount but this was fairly short term.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My enjoyment has varied from week to week and from project to project. Generally speaking it has been very enjoyable. The work life balance is healthy, I have supportive teams and helpful managers. The key to enjoyment is investment of time at the beginning of a project. If managers at the start of a project teach the intern a lot very quickly then in a short period of time they will become a valuable addition and enjoy the project. Projects are not enjoyable when you are not taught anything so you cannot help, this results in you sitting in an office with nothing to do which isn't enjoyable as it is a massive waste of time.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Accenture?
  • On 2/3 projects I have felt very valued. One of them they wanted to extend me but couldn't due to budgetary restraints, which clearly shows I was valued. Other times I have felt like I was an annoyance to busy managers/colleagues who didn't have time to help me out in my first couple of weeks.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme for most interns is well structured but due to unpredictable events, namely large changes in Government budgets, my structure has not been very well organised. However I understand that this is abnormal and in reality despite some organisational problems this has not impacted on me greatly.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • No voluntary support. But they have been very willing to help whenever I reach out to them. Each project I have been allocated a buddy. Some buddies are very helpful, some are not, it depends on how busy they are.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The HR team were excellent in getting me a role when I was rolled off a project at short notice. The HR person responsible for interns has also been excellent in answering any questions I may have.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My Salary easily covers my costs. This is because I am living with my parents and don't have to pay rent. If I had to pay London rent it might be more of a struggle. I pay over one third of my income on trains. Perhaps Accenture could subsidise interns who live outside of London to encourage not just people who live in London to apply for the Horizons scheme. People are doing gap years to travel, I do not think it is possible to rent in london on the salary and save enough money to travel.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many company events available. These include networking events, charity events, Parties, and social clubs. I have sometimes felt too busy or tired to join in on some of these events so perhaps haven't taken full advantage of them.

    10/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Accenture to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The experience I have gained will be invaluable in later life. The salary is very reasonable and as a result I have saved a lot money. There is a big focus on networking in the firm and this will serve me well in later life.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Accenture?
  • Make sure you are comfortable being uncomfortable. Working for Accenture is challenging but exciting and you will learn so many useful skills. For the application focus on times in your life when you have solved problems and show off your technical skills.
