  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As a Software Engineer who has just finished their 3 month Accelerated Learning Environment (ALE) course, a typical day would include studying for one of our sprints (a 2 week block of lectures in which we learn a new skill) or visiting the Capgemini office to integrate into the business and corporate environment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • On the 3 month Accelerated Learning Environment (ALE) you have to opportunity to learn a variety of skills. The skills learned depend on which "stream" you are in. For example, as part of the Business Information Management unit, Microsoft Business Intelligence was a course we were required to complete. This was supplemented by other technical skills such as learning to use SQL Server Management Studio, Data Modelling and Programming Fundamentals (Python/Java). However, in Capgemini, soft skills are just as important as technical prowess, because of this we were encouraged to develop our EQ.
