  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently a support analyst for the PMO team. Some of the daily task I do are to run off stats and produce the data to send off also I have to check queues of our ticket system to see if anymore problems have came in for us to deal with. I have to talk to a number of people daily to make sure I'm kept in the loop on the latest problems which we have. I have to communicate with clients from outside the company as well to make sure they are happy with the service we are providing and how they want us to progress problems. I have to make sure that no calls which are assigned to Capgemini from clients breach and that we respond to them and get them fixed as soon as we can to a high standard. My role involves a lot of different jobs to do like running important reporting stats off and checking systems are still working.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The course has been well organised throughout, for the induction we got arranged accommodation to where we were going to be staying for the duration of the induction days. The training courses had all been given set dates by the trainers and we knew where we would be to do which course and when it was straight away. We were always supported throughout the program with the trainers always offering help and always welcomed questions. My colleagues at Capgemini would always help out if I was stuck on a part of the course or was just checking my answers were right. When I first joined a mentor had already been arranged for me for the duration of my apprenticeship, my mentor was very easy to get on with and if I had any problems then I could go and discuss them. The tasks which we had to work on got spread around the team fairly so no one person had an overload of tasks to do.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • The tutors which provided are training were easy to get on with and offered help if a problem arose. I had contact details of the tutors and they would always reply if I emailed them a question about a part of the course. They wanted to see us complete the course and pass it well, even after we had finished the course they said we can send them questions at anytime if we needed some advice or help. The courses were made better by having a good tutor to learn from.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary which I get always covers me for the month and makes me able to afford some extra things which before I would'n't have been able to. It has made me be able to afford a car which make travelling to work very easy since it's not too far from where I live now.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are company events which happen outside of work like a Christmas party each year which is always a good social event. Other social events come up throughout the year as well. At the offices which I work off there is football which is available for every employee to play at the local leisure center on Friday lunch time and made a bit competitive with a overall leader board of each persons results throughout the year. I also play football outside of work which I found out about due to a colleague which I work with. I play badminton as well and am a keen runner.

  • 9. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Capgemini to a friend because I have had experience of working for the company and have really enjoyed my time here. Everyone is easy to get on with and makes you feel welcome straight away. I have gained some very good qualifications which I have worked hard to get. I have improved a lot of my skills even ones which aren't IT related. The type of work which I do keeps me interested and there is always a chance to change if you would like to explore another area of work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • The application process consists of three stages, CV, telephone interview, then formal interview. When I did it I was nervous for the telephone interview and the formal interview but on both of them after I started talking to the people of Capgemini I realised there was nothing to worry about as they were really easy to get on with and wanted to make you feel part of the company before you had even been hired. We also had assessments on the formal interview days where we had some tests to complete and also do some activities with others who were applying for the apprenticeship, it went really well for me as I enjoy working in teams to find the best solution to the problem which we faced. It was by a phone call which I found out that I had got the job then an email sent to confirm start dates and contract which I would be getting. The first experience which I had was finding out that I would be travelling down to Telford and staying over in a hotel for a few nights whilst I was completing my induction. This gave me a great opportunity to get to know the other apprentices on my course and who I would be soon working with. One thing I would like to have been told was just there is no point worrying as there's nothing to worry and everyone is really easy to get on with and want to help you as much as they can and give to the best opportunities to succeed.
