  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • It involved attending talks on different sections of commercial law which were very informative. I spent each day of the week in a different field of commercial law eg. Litigation, Corporate etc. I assisted the trainee solicitors and helped them with the likes of research and paper work.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt numerous skills, many of which were ICT related. I was taught how to use several law specific websites to further my research. Furthermore, I helped with important documents such as Court bundles and in doing so I learnt the importance of being thorough and having a good eye for detail.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I loved the work experience programme. I was very nervous on the first day but this quickly changed as I got to know the team and was made to feel very welcome.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Pinsent Masons?
  • I feel very value. From the offset I was made to feel very welcome and all employees made an effort of chatting with me and putting me at ease. Additionally, we were told to keep in touch with the firm which made us feel as if we were valued greatly.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is a very well structured programme. At the start of the week I was given a timetable which was followed closely ensuring I was always busy and informed.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I received a lot of support and I never felt embarrassed or nervous to ask for help and I did so n numerous occasions.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • You receive great amounts of support from everybody at the firm. I was given a talk on how to sell myself with regards in interviews and my CV which the firm were under no obligation to do so but made me feel very supported.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Pinsent Masons Work Experience is unpaid. However, it is a very accessible building and therefore I'm sure no great costs would be incurred traveling to and from your work experience.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • PM work closely with various charities and I learnt that most employees get involved which also deepens the team bond. Additionally, when chatting to the trainees I heard about numerous social clubs that the firm offers.

  • 9. Would you recommend Pinsent Masons to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I had a fantastic Work Experience and I feel I have gained valuable skills and qualities from it. I also think it is a god idea to make sure that this career is definitely one you would like to pursue.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Pinsent Masons?
  • I would advise others to leave plenty of time to fill out the application process and give it plenty of thought as this stage is highly competitive.
