For nearly 70 years, AWE has been at the forefront of nuclear research weapons research and development. Contracted to the MOD, we have a critical mission: to provide the warheads for the UK’s ultimate deterrent – Trident. We also use our unique nuclear skills to provide wider UK government with counter-terrorism and nuclear threat reduction solutions.
It takes a special sort of person to work at AWE. What if that person was you?
As a business administrator at AWE your role will include inputting visit details to enable visitors to access site, raising purchase requisitions, diary and inbox management, booking of meeting rooms and allocation of keys, control of classified documents and many other transactional administration tasks to support all areas of AWE.
As an apprentice you will initially be based within the onsite training facility, where you will develop your basic knowledge and core skills, before progressing on to the onsite aspect of your training. At this point you will now start to apply and further develop these core skills in a live working environment. In addition to the vocational aspects of your training, we will further your knowledge of business administration through coaching and hands on tasks to help you to achieve your business administration apprenticeship.
Business Administration may appeal to you if you enjoy:

Level 3 entry requirements:
- Preferably GCSE in Maths and English at Grade 4 or above (or equivalent)
- PC literate
- Good communication skills
- Excellent team working skills
- Health and safety aware
- Effective at following instructions
- Ability to concentrate for long periods
- Passion for your chosen profession (see comparable skills/interests)
Duration of training: 2 years
We recruit on a rolling basis which means as soon as our positions have been filled, we close our applications.
Successful candidates must be available to start on the Apprenticeship Programme in September 2021.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role and be willing and able to work in designated areas – if applicable
