Painter and Decorator Level 2 Apprenticeship

The post offered will be flexible to meet the needs of the apprentice’s training scheme at College.
There is an element of customer service involved in the role, so good communication skills are important as well as good practical and team working skills.
Candidates will need a good basic level of maths and English to complete this complex course of study but GCSEs are not essential. Applicants will be required to complete and pass an assessment and interview with On Site Bristol before shortlisting for employer interviews. Applicants for this role may also be considered for roles with other employers within the local supply chain.
You will be involved with tasks such as
- Cutting in
- Masking out areas
- Stripping and preparing surfaces
- Measuring, cutting and hanging wallpaper
The work can be done indoors or outdoors, so you should be prepared to brave the weather and travel to different sites.
Training to be provided
- Full apprenticeship standard at Level (2) Painter and Decorator
- CSCS Health & Safety Test and various in house/ job essential courses.
- Mixture of work-based and College based learning (day release).
- Practical aptitude
- Communication and customer service skills are required
- Confident and eager to learn
- Interest in Construction and Built Environment
GCSE's are not essential but you will need to pass the On Site Bristol assessment and interview process before being considered for interview by employer.
Taylor Wimpey retains many of its trained apprentices supporting further study at Higher Level but there is also the prospect of self-employment.
Things to consider
The role involves working to tight deadlines, involves decorating new build properties to the required specification.
This is at times is an outdoors activity and apprentices should be able to cope with working in all weathers in multiple locations. Apprentices will be expected to meet demanding targets and provide suitably clear written assessments.
