Bricklayer Level 2 Apprenticeship - Gloucester
An excellent opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to undertake an apprenticeship with reputable and highly successful company.
The company specialise in new build, working on projects throughout the Bristol, Gloucester, South Gloucestershire, and North Somerset areas. The company provides a wide and varied range of work with fantastic levels of support.
Apprentices will experience all aspects of the role progressing from site preparation tasks to basic block and brick laying on a daily basis. In addition, there will be opportunities to experience aspects of site management.
The Bricklaying apprenticeship scheme will qualify you as a professional Bricklayer as well as giving you the option to gain further industry recognised qualifications.
On Site Bristol provides all apprentices with personal protective equipment and a tool kit before you get started.
A Bricklaying apprenticeship typically lasts approximately 30 months.
- As a bricklayer you'll need a good head for heights and be happy to work outdoors
- Bricklaying can also be quite physical, so good fitness is also important
- Bricklayers build the interior and exterior walls of buildings
- The types of work include cutting bricks using hammers, chisels, or portable power tools
- Laying bricks in courses
- Spreading mortar with trowels and checking that the wall is straight and level
- A Bricklaying job would suit a person who likes working outdoors and working as part of a team
Training to be provided
Level 2 Bricklayer apprenticeship standard.
Functional Skills in maths and English.
Fantastic on the job introduction to site work with a good deal of variety and great opportunity to develop higher level skills.
One day per week attendance at college starting September 2020. In addition, training will be given on site in wider aspects of the role including Health and Safety, specialist skills and aspects of site management.

No formal qualifications required; however, candidates must pass On Site Bristol's assessment and interview to proceed to short listing.
Excellent opportunity to develop specialist skills. Former apprentices regularly progress to site management roles with additional support and training.

Obtaining trade skills in a site environment is very fulfilling and the right candidates, through their efforts, will develop a sustained career and continually develop throughout their working life. Much of the work is completed outside in all weathers.
