  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I process the pay for approx 650 employees. I input the payments/deductions for each employee into the payroll system each month. In addition to this I do several checks to make sure everything balances, answer queries and other ad hoc tasks.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I had never been involved in payroll before so I have learnt the whole processes for the job role. Alongside this I have been learning more about payroll through the apprenticeship lessons. I have also learnt how to use Excel to help gather information from several spreadsheets using Vlookup.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the workshops, where I have been able to gain lots of knowledge on the payroll processes. This has helped me in the job role as I am able to apply what I have learnt.

  • The course has been quite well structured and my tutor has responded to any query I have had promptly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer has been very supportive, making sure that I am given time to complete my coursework. I am shortly due to take my end point assessments and my employer is giving me extra time for revision so that I have the best chance of gaining the qualification.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor has been very supportive and encouraging. If I have a query, she is quick to respond, I am currently having revision sessions in preparation of the end point assessments.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification gives me the knowledge behind the processes I perform, which helps me to understand the role better. It also helps me to be able to answer queries that I may receive.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is an abundance of activities to get involved in within my workplace. There are committees to join and several fundraising and awareness activities as well as social events.

  • Yes

  • It is a great place to work with many opportunities to progress if that is something you are looking to achieve. It is a very welcoming company that cares about looking after it’s staff and helping them to succeed.

  • Research the company and its values. Think about what experiences you have had that you can bring to the company that will help to promote these values.
