  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Daily tasks include welcoming the children at the start of the day and completing a handover with each parent, providing the children with breakfast and helping them with self serving and choosing what they want. We then move onto some morning activities, which could be a seasonal activity such as making cards or crafts or this could be a general painting activity. We then go outside into the garden and do some child-led play. We would come back in for dinner, where the children can self serve and we would set out beds ready for nap time and the children would go down for a sleep after dinner. After sleep we partake in afternoon activities such as construction or reading time. During the day we will do regular nappy changes and promote potty training. At the end of the day we will complete another handover with parents to tell them about their children's day and any activities they have enjoyed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is well organised and well structured. The tutors are always on hand if I need any support and my visits/observations/zoom calls are scheduled appropriately to allow me time to complete the work or plan any activities for my observations.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a moderate amount of support from my employer. I would like more time out of the room to complete research work to tie in with my off the job hours, but this isn't always possible with staffing issues. They always allow me time to complete the visits/calls with my tutor which is good.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Thrive Childcare to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • Sometimes you aren't valued as a staff member, and just count as a number rather than a person, but you get the standard holidays and your birthday off.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Thrive Childcare?
  • Just be yourself, confident individuals tend to do better in a childcare environment.
