  • Ensuring compliance with legal obligations that were promised as part of the High Speed 2 London to west Midlands Act 2017. We look to guide teams to remain compliant with these obligations and evidence how we have complied with this.

  • Managing risk, building professional working relations to help understand their role and how best I can support to comply.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the learning workshops with people in other compliance roles and how they follow regulations and implement and enforce and sharing how I do this in my role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It was structed well, with regular catch ups with the tutor between workshops to help me with any questions I may have had for completing assignments and understanding the programme

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer was very flexible in letting me use my learning time during work hours to do apprenticeship work. Also my employer was supportive in wanting me to gain qualification to benefit me and the business and encouraging me to want to continue to learn.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider was amazing in supporting me. They were always available and helped me in great amounts with gaining my Level 2 functional skills maths and English so I could proceed to the Gateway stage of the programme.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • This has given me more confidence in performing my role and to help to influence any mitigation when it comes to a possible risk to a non-compliance

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I look to continue networking where possible on the project I am working and the parent company I am employed through. I look to attend training course to expand my network, am part of the EDI group and a mental health first aider where I attend regular meetings for upskilling.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They have plenty of opportunities available and look to upskill where possible to help retain staff. The encourage people to take charge of their future career progression and want to see people grow within the business.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Balfour Beatty?
  • If you want the opportunity to grow, learn, progress take it. The opportunities are there you have to want it if you want to succeed.
