  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Currently in my role I am focusing on the recruitment side of the department. Screening CV's, booking interviews, sitting in interviews and completing the new starter checklists for those who have been successful during the recruitment process. I also deal with some admin tasks like monthly sign offs.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes. In terms of skills fit for my department I have expanded on lots of skills such as communication, organisation and team work. During my experience with the company I have also received training on Excel/ PowerPoint and have had the opportunity to take part in external training on Time Management and Assertiveness.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the program. I enjoy the split between gaining experience within a fast paced working environment and working towards a degree. It has allowed me to greatly expand on my organisation skills, as I have work tasks/ projects as well as uni assignments to keep on top of.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is organised really well. They keep on top of your OTJ hours, provide lots of help with assignments and hold regular meetings with myself and my mentor to discuss any issues and upcoming courses and assignments that can prepare for.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support. I have monthly catch ups with my mentor to discuss my work load and any upcoming assignments. On the weeks that I am not in university I have a day to work from home to complete assignments.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support. My mentor reads through all of my assignments and helps me to add any additional points that would fit with the assignment and the company.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well. Everything I have learnt so far in uni I have implemented into my role in my company.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes. We have different committes where employees within the company join together to set up events and opportunities for people to join. We have a wellbeing, community and employee committee. We also have company parties, football teams, running clubs, and we are coming up to a 10km event.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company focuses really hard on each employees training and progression. They assign each new starter with a mentor who supports them through all of their tasks and really helps them to settle into the company. They put each employees wellbeing first and take pride in giving back for the hard work that each department puts in to make the company as successful as it is.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ultimate Products?
  • Get stuck into everything, don't be afraid to ask if you are unsure on anything, get involved in as many training events as you can,
