  • On site a day to day basis consists of online working which is online training courses or writing up about a job or planning and creating a safe workspace for a maintenance repair to be taken place. During training a typical day consists of a standard college day or if training is National Grid specific working with new and expensive equipment which is practice for on site use.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • For the short time I have been at National Grid I have already learnt very useful skills, I have furthered my communication skills and my knowledge on engineering has vastly improved. National Grid offers a wide range of training schemes that are helpful for not just one specific job role.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • For me personally the training program itself has created memories and experiences I will never forget. The people I work with are great and I am grateful for National Grid because of the new people I have met. The training is very relative to your needs and enjoyable, for on site you know the work you do matters to real people.

  • National Grid have great values and value all employees. The training offered by Nation Grid is very impressive and will seriously help develop your skills and abilities. The apprenticeship especially is a once in a life time opportunity and this is not just because of the training provided or the high apprenticeship salary but the new people you will meet and experiences that can be created.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to National Grid?
  • Definitely apply for this job role, show to the employer that you are eager and really want this job. National Grid appreciate everyone and if you show you are capable and willing to complete the apprenticeship, that is a great place to start.
