  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I prepare personal tax returns for high-networth clients, I also prepare CGT returns and assist with the day to day admin required. I will often assist other colleagues with more complex tax matters as well.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I absolutely love being on this programme, it is engaging, informative and enjoyable, though at times it can be stressful trying to juggle work, education and personal commitments all at the same time.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme itself is quite well structured although there is a lot left to be desired in terms of organisation from the training provider - it often seems disjointed with a lack of communication between teams. This is counteracted by excellent organisation from my employer.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive as much support as I feel necessary which is excellent as it allows me to work within my own capabilities without feeling overbearing but equally knowing that support will be there when I feel that I need it.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • There is a lot to be desired - as I previously said, it can seem disjointed with a lack of communication between the teams within the Training Provider. They definitely have room for improvement.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, there are many social events, charitable work opportunities and professional networking events are held regularly.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Irwin Mitchell to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • The support from the wider team and the apprentice manager is second to none, the Firm cares about employees as individuals with many policies in place to make working as tailored to individual needs as possible and there is a great benefits package too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Irwin Mitchell?
  • Research the Firm and the role before you apply, be authentic in your interview as well.
