  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role was to work in the local plans team and viability team and provide administrative support. This included writing meeting minutes, circulating agendas, organising meetings, creating presentations, producing reports and also helping to support the wider unit in big projects like organising a series of stakeholder events.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned about schedule and resource management. I understand how to organise my projects through creating and maintaining project plans.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed it a lot. It was really interesting and informative. I felt it would help in preparing me for future job roles as I learned about different methods and approaches to managing projects.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme was really well organised. Our trainer was also very receptive to any feedback we might have and was open to ideas about our workshops. He started to implement mock practice for the APM exam in our workshops to look at our understanding of the topics.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from my employer with flexibility around study leave. They also support me in preparing and revising for my exams. If I am stuck on something they will help to find me resources or advise to enrol into a training course in our organisation.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Realise have been very supportive. My TDO and Trainer are always available to discuss anything regarding the programme. They both provide me with excellent resources and their feedback has always been very helpful for me as well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my qualification helps me to perform better in my role because I can now confidently manage projects on my own. I know ways to stay organised. I know how to manage risks better. I also know different ways and methods of communicating with stakeholders.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am part of a Muslim staff network. My team also are looking for corporate volunteer days. We also have team away days.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The work culture is really great. It is very flexible to work at the GLA. You are trusted a lot which is really motivating to get on with the work. You also have a great network of support around you. It can be either you team or different staff networks.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Greater London Authority?
  • My advice to others applying to the Greater London Authority is to do your research. Show an understanding to the role you are applying to. Demonstrate you have familiarised yourself with the GLA's objectives and also look at the EDI strategies the GLA implements.
