  • I have been working in childcare for 3.5years so I already had quite good knowledge but doing my apprenticeship I have learnt a lot about the reasons behind why we do it and how it benefits the children.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have been really enjoying my apprenticeship and love learning new things.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured but the only downfall is that its not mandatory for employers to give you time out and if you have a child like I do at home it makes it impossible to do work at home. Realise uses one file and it is really outdates and old fashioned.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive time out and if I have a question they will support me but because time out is not compulsory I sometimes didn't get it. Especially at the start when I had a different manager, I didn't get any.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has made a massive difference on the way I work and why we do what we do. Since doing my apprenticeship I really want to move up and eventually become a room leader.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Family first to a friend?
  • No

  • 9b. Why?
  • We recently got taken over by family first and we used to be with childbase. Childbase really make you feel appreciated as an employee. We used to get yearly bonuses and regular visits from the management at the top and staff parties and raffles and gift we get nothing with family first. when anyone visits from head office they don't acknowledge any of us staff.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Family first?
