  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a HR Administrator and my role consists of monitoring the general HR Admin inbox and answering general queries. My main tasks consist of administrating payroll each month, this includes issuing contract variation letters and uploading changes onto our system. I also do DBS renewals, probation letters, sickness absence management, invoices and facilitate the exit survey.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt the importance of time management and this has been developed whilst being a HR Administrator. I have also practiced public speaking and presentation skills with my apprenticeship tutor.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • My programme with Realise was a great experience and I enjoyed it very much. My tutor was a great tutor who made the workshops very interactive and engaging. I enjoyed the workshops a lot because they complimented the CIPD essays and enabled me to understand the theory due to group discussions.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well organised and structured. We have a timetable that is up to date that shows all the learning for the next 2 years. The workshops are well organised and always start and finish on time.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I received support from my employer. They made sure I took my 20% off the job every week and gave me ideas at times, when writing my learning journals.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I received a lot of support from my training provider. For example, there was always a session in our calendar called 'drop in session' every time we had questions about our CIPD assignment, whether we passed or failed some questions. This helped us to prepare our answers and submit them on time, feeling confident in our re submissions. Also, my tutor was always responding to my emails whenever I had questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has given me the theory and basis foundation knowledge so I can confidently respond to managers. Similarly, I took on my first case which helped me with my confidence and case management.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have network events such as Gender Equality Network, People of Colour Network, Faith at Work Network. These help staff to feel a sense of belonging at work.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The company I work for, Family Action, is a company that places heavy emphasis on employee wellbeing and the organisational culture is excellent. There is a heavy focus on EDI and my manager is particularly helpful and always there to support. It is a charity organisation so you feel part of something bigger.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Family Action?
  • In terms of Family Action Do your research about the organisation, we have lots of services so search services near your home. In regards to Realise, do re search about Realise, do research about the qualification and why you want to study it.
