  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • setting up class experiments, checking over apparatus and chemicals for practical work, clearing away equipment at the end of all practical sessions, ensuring that all the labs are safe for the following lesson, ensuring that all lab equipment is safely stored away, undertaking maintenance of lab equipment, supporting teaching staff and students during lessons, liaising with other schools if specialist equipment is required, doing regular stock checks, supplying textbooks, worksheets to classrooms (including photocopying), ensuring the application of Health & Safety is met at all times, and helping out with general duties within the school.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt various new skills whilst taking part in this apprenticeship. For example: - Chemical Handling. - Analytical Techniques. - Learning to set up different practicals for classes. - Storing chemicals safely. - Health & Safety Procedures within a lab environment. ETC.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed this programme. Within these past 2 years, I have learnt so much and have developed a lot of new skills. Furthermore, with the new skills and knowledge I have aquired, I feel that these will benefit me greatly in the future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • From start to finish, I feel as though the programme was well organised. All of the learning material was very accessible, as well as being well structured and informative. Each one of the lectures were equally well structured, and my tutor was always available if I needed any help, or advice.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer supported me where ever they could. Each day, I was provided 2 hours where I could work on completing my coursework, and to revise for the EPA.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • LMP gave me a lot of support towards achieving the qualifications. For example: if there was a topic I wasn't sure about, my tutor was always willing to support me further; even if this took the form of an extra video call that month.

  • The qualification has provided me with the right knowledge and skills in order to succeed my current position.

  • Currently, there are no extra-curricular activities at my workplace.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Because they support you as much as possible; also, they are very accomodating to your needs. For example: they will give you the necessary time in order to complete your coursework, on top of completing you day-to-day duties.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Kemnal Technology College?
  • Make sure to give yourself enough time to complete your coursework, your everyday duties and any outstanding CPD training.
