  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is to provide 1st and 2nd line support through the IT ticketing system. Setting up user account, provide software and hardware maintenance; unboxing and configure new devices; deployment of new software; network maintenance including setting up vlan; A/V troubleshooting and maintenance; management of the VoIP system;

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I learnt several skills including networking; troubleshooting; knowledge of VoIP systems; communications skills including formal and informal; maintenance of A/V; learnt Power Automate related to form automation

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoying my programme as I can learn new skills in the workplace whilst studying the theory through my training provider. All my colleagues and tutor have been willing to help me archive the final result.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme consists of doing my job in the workplace and typically I have a couple of hours each day to perform my studies or write my portfolio. With my training provider, I receive virtual support through a one-to-one meeting (usually twice a month) and on every three months I receive a formal review from my tutor and my manager.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive plenty of support from my manager including any assistance related to technical questions and also obtain some training led by him. I also receive support through my school management and HR if I have any questions not related to my job.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I usually attend one-to-one meetings with my tutor who helped me during my portfolio work and also with my knowledge unit exam. I also attended group workshop sessions related to each knowledge unit. They are always available when I contacted them by email.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification is crucial because I have a strong opportunity to learn the theory which is recommended in my job role. Some of the practical work I cannot perform efficiently without the theory.

  • No at the moment

  • 9a. Would you recommend Weald of Kent Grammar School to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I recommend this company or any school in general because I think the variety of the IT system is huge. You can learn any different field in IT from Networking to CyberSecurity to Servers management; AV; CCTV and so on.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Weald of Kent Grammar School?
  • My advice is to obtain some qualifications, especially network and centralize domain if you want to apply to this school without an apprenticeship programme
