  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • As an assistant chef at Prince hall hotel my role involves preparing food, planning the menu, maintaining high standards of hygiene and management of the inventory. On a day-to-day basis I clean and prepare the service areas and assist the chief chef to run the kitchen and ensure order and control.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt to prepare good food and organization of the kitchen also to keep the kitchen tidy at all times. I have also learnt excellent knife skills and good customer relations. It is also worth noting that I have been able to Multitask and perform efficiently under pressure and fast moving environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This programme gives me an opportunity to learn. this means that it is a rigorous excesise that requires full attention and commitment. I have been able to work under a good chief chef who does not stop giving me the required tips to perform better at my position. It is also so enjoyable to contribute to the success of the team.

  • This programme has an opportunity for one to come up with their own ideas and implement them. There is no limit to what one can try as long as it is for the good. The programme covers the important areas and gives you the opportunity to experience the real life situations.

  • Prince hall hotel is my employer and plays a big role in my development as an upcoming chef . They have provided me with all the needed resources to make my work easier. This inturn has ensured that the working environment is a health one that enables me to perform at the best levels.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The training provider through Prince hall hotel also plays their role in helping me during my quest for qualifications. They organize regular training and coaching programs where I get to develop other interest. They also offer related catering courses that are an advantage towards gaining the required skills to be a good chef.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am quite motivated and encouraged by my training provider to work harder each day. I have full confidence in myself that with the solid foundation in catering education I am a good chef. I have been able to adapt well in the work area and I am open minded and ready to learn.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Prince Hall hotel has other parallel activities that happen at a definite time for example we have exhibitions where the chefs present their work and get awarded for the best work done. Also we collaborate with other organizations who together we organize and create platforms for talent search and give opportunities to others who are interested to be In the hotel industry.

  • Prince hall hotel is a health environment with visionary management who care about their employees and are compliant with all the legislative guidelines and set rules. Prince hall hotel gives you an opportunity to venture in other disciplines and does not limit your ability to come up with new ideas because the management is positively receptive to new ideas.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Prince Hall Hotel?
  • It is a very good opportunity worth clinching. Prince hall hotel is a professional area of work and posses zero tolerance to laziness. Of you are open minded and ready to learn then price hall hotel is the place you want to be. Also be ready to multitask and be a good time manager.
