  • My primary role is to protect the organisation's network infrastructure, IT systems and data from a variety of threats and vulnerabilities. I am responsible for proactively monitoring network security, detecting and responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with the organisation's security policies and procedures.On a daily basis, my duties include analysing network traffic and logs, monitoring system activity, and being vigilant for any suspicious behaviour.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learned to detect and investigate incidents and potential threats on my own, creating remedies to help mitigate these threats (firewalls, passwords, access control pools). I have also improved my skills in using security tools such as SIEMs and IDS/IPS as well as using scripting and programming languages to automate security tasks.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I have the satisfaction of knowing I am actively improving the security posture of the organisation, and I'm improving my skills and knowledge each day. The challenges the programme presents are interesting, and the degree of fulfilment I get from successful security implementations is very rewarding.

  • The programme is very well-structured. It is broken down into modules and courses to help ensure that I thoroughly understand all aspects of the programme. Additionally, the assessments I have to take along the way provide valuable feedback, helping me identify certain skillets that I need further development in. The well defined roles are also very important for my growth.

  • My workplace is very supportive of the programme and my personal development. They offer tools such as online courses, vendor-provided support, and mentoring from the organization's seasoned cyber security professionals. They also make certain that I am inspired and engaged throughout the programme. They have taken a step forward in ensuring the smooth inclusion into their system which is very important for me.

  • When it comes to gaining my qualifications, my training provider is quite helpful. They provide a range of resources to assist me in excelling and answering any issues I may have, including online course materials, practice examinations, and one-on-one tutoring. Throughout the programme, they also provide feedback and guidance to ensure that I am on pace to reach my objectives.

  • My training provider's qualifications have been useful in assisting me to perform better in my work. They provide a solid foundation of information and abilities, allowing me to better comprehend and detect emerging risks while also optimizing existing security measures. This, together with the practical knowledge I've obtained, has made me more adept at safeguarding the organization's assets.

  • Yes, there are plenty of extra-curricular activities available at work, from social events to professional networking activities. We also have sports teams, hackathons and other competitions that employees can join. Additionally, my employer often hosts seminars and webinars that provide helpful resources and updates on new trends in cyber security.

  • To those applying to HARMAN Technology, I would suggest familiarizing yourself with the company and the cyber security field. Make sure you have a strong understanding of the skills you need to bring to the role and how you can demonstrate those skills during the interview process. Also, make sure you understand the company’s security policies and procedures, as this will be an area of focus during the interview. Finally, practice your problem-solving and communication skills, as these are integral to cyber security.
