  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working with specifications, recipes and formulations. Communicating with a wider team to deliver projects on time to a high standard whilst updating core stakeholders and making recommendations. Networking with colleagues in different areas of the business. Carrying out product trials in the on site pilot plant an logistics for this.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • When starting the apprenticeship I had only ever worked in a Bakery. Coming into a Global company i quickly matured to take on new skills such as; communication and networking. Presentation skills as well as developing a corporate language and understanding the ins and outs of a large business. on top of this being able to use practical skills in a different environment.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working for Mondelez. I have had exposure to lots of opportunities throughout the apprenticeship and have been able to give back through presenting to schools and careers fairs also. This has been useful for my self confidence and i get alot of enjoyment from doing this as well.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • very structured programme, lecturers keep us well informed and up to date with information for the course and modules. the attention to detail which is required for assignments is well communicated and it is always clear to see what is coming up and what is required. help and easy to talk to the university also.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Mondelez as am employer are really understanding and allocate the 20% off the job which is required for the apprenticeship. Mentoring is widely available and useful for filling in the gaps and linking lectures to real life scenarios in the food industry. We are lucky to have the exposure to all areas of such a large business to understand all module content.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The support is great from NTU. there are multiple online resources available at anytime as well as being able to openly email and chat via teams to lecturers and the library staff. Support for deadlines is greatly appreciated and i am able to reach out if i need clarity on certain topics.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Throughout the past 4 years of my apprenticeship i have been able to apply modules such as bio chemistry, food safety, manufacturing and processing modules to the work in which i do. More recently i have bee able to apply the product development modules to my role as it is currently and been able to expand on some of my knowledge to incorporate this both into my job and into my assignments,

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • mondelez has a great social network, with being able to partake in other activities such as the Young professionals network, diversity and inclusions and lunch and learns. More recently we have been able to expand on this into the wellbeing pillar with a visit from therapy dogs and team social events such as team building and community days.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Mondelez is a great company to work for, with lots of flexible benefits such as flexible hybrid working, great holiday allowance and lovely network of people. there is always someone to talk to and reach out if help or support is needed. there are good career opportunities with it being such a massive company also.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mondelez?
  • Use corporate language but make sure you get yourself across in paperwork/ interview. mondelez is a very people orientated company, especially at junior level and it is essential this can come across. be yourself, include past experiences and rely on food industry knowledge and experience also! So many opportunities available in different sectors.
