  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am an early years practitioner and I look after children on a full time basis. I use my best practice to teach and educate young children. I provide fun and educational activities for the children whilst making sure the children eat well, sleep well and feel happy and nurtured in their environment.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed in my existing skills and I feel I do so every single day. I have learnt so much in extra courses that the company provides and they also keep us up to date with policies. I feel I am thriving at this nursery and continue to keep doing so with their help and professionalism.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy it alot. Sometimes it's hard to find a good balance between working, the course and home life as it's alot of work but I take it all in my stride and try my best. Sometimes it's just difficult to keep up when staff are ill regularly and you become short staffed because of it.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It's very well structured up to now. If I struggle my tutor is there on hand to help me. I struggle with the technical side of things as I'm not the best on a computer but I do feel like I have support should I need it from my tutor.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer is great and is there should I need them. I have gone to my employer about a few things of late and they've always been very kind, helpful and supportive of anything I need. They provide guidance also and don't leave me struggling when I need help.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor up to now has been very helpful and supportive. She has helped me out lots of late as I was initially struggling with the computer and technical side of the course. She is good at replying to my messages and us on hand the majority of the time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel the qualification helps me to be a better practitioner every day. It helps me to manage myself and my time better and I learn new things every day. I have much better reflection of myself and my practices and can put this into my daily life in my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • My colleagues are always organising and planning events and fun things to do that everyone can get involved in. It's a very friendly place to work and everyone loves to be involved in the social aspect of life and not just the working side. We don't have any sports team as yet.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Fledglings Nurseries to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a very respected nursery with the the children being absolutely key to every part of our day. We have great routine and structure and the staff are all really well looked after. Bank holidays are paid for, you are fed along with the children at meal times and you get a full hours break too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fledglings Nurseries?
  • Be yourself! We love friendly, bubbly, honest, hard workers who put the children first always as they are the heart of everything we do here. Always take everything in your stride. A sense of humour is quite important I'd say aswel and a strong disposition can really come in handy some days.
