Communication skills developed especially through working and liaising with different teams and departments to meet deadlines. My time management skills have progressed by having to manage my work and study deadlines efficiently. Learnt new Excel skills and formulas to populate results and data thanks to internal courses.
During the first 6 months I thoroughly enjoyed the programme with the balance between work and study working well for me combined with the excitement of learning new skills within the finance 'world'. There are multiple opportunities to progress and the culture here is so friendly and welcoming.
There is a clear structure in place by M&G which allows me to complete my study work consistently without feeling overworked. Within my role I have the opportunity to rotate across different teams within finance. There are regular catchup/review meetings with the apprenticeship cohort to address any concerns.
The support from M&G has been amazing, I have a mentor to give me advice and assistance regarding any personal or work related issues. I have weekly catch ups with my manager to discuss how everything is going and bring up any concerns.
The support from BPP has been good at points however there is a general lack of communication when requiring extra support or clarification on certain things. Often i will have email on multiple occasions in order to receive an answer.
I am lucky that the qualification I am studying (Accountancy and Tax) is very well linked with some of the tasks and skills i am currently learning/performing in my role. They provide key knowledge that can be widely transferred.
M&G apprenticeship programme regularly encourages and organises professional networking events within the local community to support young aspiring apprentices and also with events hosted to provide extra training and knowledge around other roles that we may not be exposed to within our roles directly.
