  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • For the first year we are studying for our city and guilds qualification as well as our a licence. This is this is both a challenge but very rewarding when we pass each module. The next two years are spent on the job, this is where our practical skills and knowledge will improve drastically.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Absolutely, we often spend time in the aircraft hangar at ICAT where our hand skills are developed from carrying out activities like sheet metal work and removing systems from gas turbine engines. Our knowledge of aircraft systems has also increased as a result of a great deal of theory work.
