  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • within the first year we carry out are studying at ICAT in Cardiff gaining are modules in a sheltered environment for are A license which allows us to then move on to are second year where we work on site. we have lessons with are tutors Matt and Steve and we set an example in the college

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes i have learnt many new skills. i have developed new study skills and the ability to produce efficient revision sources to pass my exam. i have also been able to develop my tool skills in the workshop working on differnent tasks such as are insert repair developing filing riveting and sawing skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i absolutely adore studying my apprenticeship with boeing defence UK. it has allowed me to better myself as a person on so many levels such as the ability to work in a team and also my ability to manufacture components using purely hand skills and study to a high standard.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • the structure is exteremly well organised and structured with lots of support and resources available to help. we are have a set timetable from the get go which we adhere to throughout the year and is spaced out very well with a mixture of practical and theory to develop ourselves.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • we receive plenty of support from boeing in terms of a personal mentor from a previous cohort who we can contact whenever we need to. we also have regular catch ups with are managers who help us set goals and stay on track with them to progress in our careers

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • we receive an amazing amount of support from our training provider which is ICAT. we are able to contact tutors via teams and ask questions whenever we need to so we don't get stuck. we also have plenty of resources on teams which we can access at any time

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • i believe that the qualification we are gaining with are training provider (ICAT) is critical to progress in our role. we must complete our exams to be able to begin work in an unsheltered environment which is being on sit and the exams also allow us to earn are CAA A license and become licensed engineers

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • there are plenty of extra curricular activities for us to partake in such as the apprentice awards. this allows us to meet all the other apprentices within boeing defence UK and it will allow us to network with all the senior managers within the company. we also can go on visits to schools and airshows aswell to help promote

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • i would recommend this apprenticeship to anyone who is interested in engineering and aviation. the quality of the course is amazing and the opportunities available to us are endless. we have a great team around us and are encouraged to progress as much as we want. the team is also amazingly welcoming


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Boeing?
  • when applying for boeing defence UK Ltd i would recommend that you be yourself. show the real you and give it your all. its ok to have nerves just be confident and if you are invited to any open days or interviews know you have potential and deserve to be on the course if your personal skills fit the role
