  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Coordination of internal and external programmes for development (work experience, functional skills, care certificate). Attending careers events to educate students about apprenticeships and careers in NHS. Facilitating corporate induction, staff events and courses to help development.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my skills in presentations and organisation. I am gaining new skills in organisational development and looking at the results of staff survey and improving the experience for staff.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying my programme so far, there is a lot to learn still but it is nice to have an external person to talk to about my role and support from a different area.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • There is a clear goal of where i need to get to and what i need to do each month. It is flexible in helping play to my strengths and see where my knowledge gaps are.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have regular 1:1s with my manager and she checks in on my progress. It is still early on in my apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I have monthly meetings with my curriculum specialist and I know I can contact him if I have any questions or concerns about the work i have to do.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It is still early, I can see that the end of the training will provide me with the knowledge to back up the skills that I have already acquired over my career and help me develop more

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do not know yet as I have been in my role for 3 months. There have been team days with my team and I know that there are events for apprentices during national apprenticeship week.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They have a focus on staff development and are trying to see this goal achieved through strategy and development in all parts of the teams around the trust.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust?
  • Show how your current experiences and skills can be transferrable if needed - I have come from a different sector into this role but was able to show how my skills could transfer and FHFT have helped bring this together with an appropriate apprenticeship.
