I take in referrals from schools all over Cumbria for children with special educational needs and then I process these referrals and allocate either a special advisory teacher or educational phycologist to help the children in school who have extra needs and struggle in their school setting we can also apply for places in special schools for children .
I have learnt now skills such as communication skills from answering the phone to both internal and external customers and also many system uses as we use a variety of systems that i now have more knowledge on as college put you through an IT course for business as well so your confidence can grow.
I really enjoy the program as I can get a qualification as well as getting paid! I have also made lots of new friends in college and with all the experience I have gained from both college and work I have matured massively from working with adults and I am much more confident
We have a weekly timetable of what we will be doing per lesson and if we need to bring any past work as references to help us in the coming lesson also after we have completed the lesson our tutor emails is any work or PowerPoints we have gone through to then use at work
My employer is amazing and we have weekly meeting to go through any work I have got from college that I have struggled with or need checking and helping to keep the best quality work. College and work also have 3 monthly meetings to make sore everyone is on the same page with next steps etc
My current training provider works closely with my job as they help to make sure everything that they need to watch me do is getting ticked off in my day to day job role so I can get parts of my apprenticeship ticked off quickly and to the highest standards.
My qualification helps me in my current job roll as college also put my through an IT course so now I’m much more confident in all the new systems I had to learn in work they also put my though my maths and English GCSE so I can feel more confident in everything I do knowing I’m qualified to the high test standards I can be.
In my current job I have taken on the role of doing monthly team building exercises such as monthly quizzes or going out for days to the YHA to help the team gel more and so that we get to know each other better and feel more confident as a team in our jobs
Yes
I would recommend Cumbria county council to anyone as from the age of 16 they have taken my infer there wing and treat my like an adult while insuring I’m looked out for and helping me get my qualifications while in a working environment I have also already been paying into my pension! Which i think is a really good opportunity from the age of 16!!
When applying for a job at Cumbria county council by confident and ask lots of questions!
