  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in customer service at British Airways, which covers checking customers in, printing boarding passes, tagging bags, buggy and ensuring we satisfy the customers. Also meeting their needs before sending them to the next step which is through security. Once they are through security we see them at the gate and board them onto their flight.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since working in British Airways I have learned many different ways to communicate with customers. Phonetic alphabet and airport codes for many different destinations. Time management and conformance times. What dangerous goods are. Learning different systems which are JFE, fly and the Iberia system. Also working as a team and everyone’s opinion matters.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Working with British airways is very enjoyable because you learn many skills while enjoying your job role.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • When I joined the apprenticeship it wasn’t organised and we kept waiting for a while as many people didn’t have their referencing done.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • From my PDM in the airport she is really good uplifting and very supportive also if I have any problems she will help me and I won’t have to wait a long time for a response.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Our training provider is helpful in terms of she will tell me what work I need to complete and where I am back but I sometimes feel there is miss communication an example is when I couldn’t hand in my CPDs she said she would show me but didn’t for a while and then kept requesting for me to hand it in but I wasn’t able to.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel that the qualification gives us a boost and adds to the overall list of qualifications we have. I feel I we learn more in the job because it is more hands on.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • For extra curricular activities I have had many different shadows and raised money for charity for flying start.

  • Yes

  • Because British Airways overall is a very good company to work with and is enjoyable.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to British Airways?
  • For other people wanting to apply to British airways I would say do it you won’t regret it.
