  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Global Team Leader, supporting a team of 8 Talent Acquisition Partners across UK and US. We are supporting the Oncology Business with the recruitment of specialist scientific candidates to advance our pipeline and work in the Oncology R and D space. This involves mentoring/coaching my team, supporting their development and assisting in recruiting to a high volume of vacancies, whilst also communicating updates to my business areas and implementing techniques to drive recruitment initiatives.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am studying the Well-being Apprenticeship Level 3 course and this is largely to assist with my development in the role of a leader and also supporting the business with the overall well-being strategies in the group. I am early days, but already learning skills to assist this focus end goal.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The fact that we use an external system to record evidence of work and upload work completed, it is a fairly relaxed course (as you would expect from a well-being focus) and when you are working full time, this assists greatly with my time management in being able to complete the work to the required deadlines.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very organised - we are kept to a structured timeline in the external system, so you can clearly see when deadlines are approaching and when work needs to be completed.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a well-being mentor within the business, who is able to assist me and my employer ensures that I receive time to allocate to my studies.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I am early days in this course, but so far - very good, I have sent a couple of emails to check I am on track with work needing to be submitted and have received an immediate reply.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Very well - again, early days on the programme, however - I am being able to already take examples back to my team and support where needed.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I am a qualified Fitness teacher and teach 2 Dance aerobic classes per week. I am also part of the UK engagement committee and support the general well-being of the wider UK team with focused social activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend AstraZeneca to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • AstraZeneca stands out as a company where development opportunities and support and encouragement to take ownership of your learning stands out as exceptional.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to AstraZeneca?
  • Revise the values of AZ and ensure that you can describe your experience clearly with detailing the action that you took/the reason you took that action/the outcome you experienced/and how you implemented or changed your approach going forward. AZ seeks candidates who can really move forward with their learning and their approach, so any evidence of how you push yourself to strive to meet targets etc is always very well received.
