  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since being at Ringway Jacobs, starting in 2015, I have learnt many new skills, as well as enhancing existing skills. Particularly my communication skills. When I first started, I very much lacked confidence, but throughout my time with the company, I have been exposed to many different social situations and presentations which have enabled me to become a confident presenter. This is my key skill development, amongst others including: organisation, decision making, operational management, strategic management.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship programme. Not only have I learnt a significant amount of skills and knowledge in many areas, I have also gained friends for life. The programme is really vast and covers a wide range of business topics, making it suitable for any existing or aspiring manager.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a considerable amount of support from my employer in pursuing the programme. Throughout my apprenticeship (and employment) they have supported me through all my education channels, including this one. I am always given the space to attend university and time outside of university to help complete my assignments.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive, on average, a good amount of support from my training provider in working towards my qualifications. This varies from tutor to tutor and unit to unit, some are more than what I can ask for and go above and beyond to support me, others will brief you your assignment and fail to reply to emails - this is difficult being a part-time student.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel like my qualification (through my training provider) has helped me to perform much better in my role. Through completing all the units across many different business areas, I have undertook valuable internal research and studies which enable me to understand my organisation better, both operationally and strategically which has therefore enabled me to perform in my role better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are not really any extra curricular activities that my work hosts. Social events include: staff leaving dos, summer football competition (family fun day), Christmas events; staff Christmas party, individual Christmas team meals. However, there is nothing of such in place like a tennis club or any kind of sports teams.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Ringway Jacobs to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have been at Ringway Jacobs since 2015 (nearly 8 years) and have had amazing opportunities during my time which have enabled me to grow where I am today; receiving 4 promotions since starting; including a management position. If you are committed and have a drive to exceed, you will be supported all the way. It is like a real family.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Ringway Jacobs?
  • The advice I would always give to anyone applying for a job in Ringway Jacobs (or anywhere) is to be yourself and really sell yourself. Do not be afraid to big yourself up, it is your one opportunity to. Ensure you have researched the organisation, its values and make sure it is the right company for you. Do the company values match yours? Do you see yourself there in 5 years time?
